Press Releases October 27, 2009 Strong results abroad for Direct & Institutional Pressure on Mediq Pharmacies Netherlands Financial highlights − Mediq’s operating result increased by 37% compared to the third quarter of 2008. Direct & Institutional’s result rose 19%. Operating result from ordinary activities* decreased by 6%. This decline was caused by a one-off restructuring provision of € 4.1 million at Pharmacies Netherlands and further price declines due to the preference policy. − Sales declined by 4% (flat at constant exchange rates). Sales at Direct & Institutional increased by 9%. Sales at Pharmacies International declined by 19%, 14 percentage points of which were attributable to the depreciation of the zloty. − 2009 full-year operating result will amount to around € 110 million. The change in name of the holding company, which was approved by the General Meeting of Shareholders yesterday, is part of the group-wide change in name and house style. Name in line with our strategy The new name is an integral part of our strategy. As a result of acquisitions and changes in the market we have grown into an internationally operating retail and distribution business for pharmaceuticals and medical supplies. And therefore into much more than only a Dutch pharmaceutical wholesaler, which is what OPG Group is usually still associated with. (click here for the entire press release) April 9, 2009 Medicare Changes Reimbursement Policy on Intermittent Catheterization The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has changed its reimbursement policy on intermittent catheterization. On April 1, 2008, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) changed its reimbursement policy on intermittent catheterization. The previous policy allowed reimbursement for only one intermittent catheter per week unless an individual user could prove the existence of at least 2 urinary tract infections in the course of one calendar year. The revised policy now allows reimbursement for up to 200 catheters per month per individual which means no re-use.... (click here for the entire press release) February 19, 2008 OPG to acquire US based Byram Healthcare Acquisition in line with strategy to grow direct business internationally and accretive to EPS OPG Groep N.V. announces it will acquire Byram Healthcare, one of the largest providers of medical supplies for home healthcare and related services ('direct activities') in the US for a total amount of $ 132 million (€ 90 million) in an all cash transaction. The acquisition, which is expected to be immediately accretive to OPG’s Earnings Per Share, will be financed through a new bank facility, existing credit lines and cash on hand.
